Amir Ziton is a commercial technology and privacy lawyer with more than 18 years of extensive international in-house and private practice experience providing strategic advice to clients on all aspects of structuring and negotiating complex high-value commercial contracts.
Amir works with companies of all types – ranging from promising fintech start-ups to globally-traded public companies – on solutions related to technology matters and the protection and use of personal information. Representative transactions include projects for the use of hosted and cloud services (including SaaS/PaaS/IaaS), cybersecurity implementation and upgrades, information and data management, hardware/software licensing, digital and cloud transformation, the development of mobile applications, the use of emerging technologies including artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain/distributed ledger technology (DLT), and associated professional services.
With experience surpassing $27.4 billion of commercial transactional work for technology, financial services, insurance, industrial, and commercial real estate clients, Amir has acted as lead commercial and privacy counsel for multiple F500 companies on more than $500 million in global transactions with the world’s largest cloud service providers. Amir has also had multiple client secondments to the legal team of the digital arm of the National Health Service (NHS) in England.
Beginning his career in private practice in the US in 2006, Amir relocated to the UK in 2013 and spent more than a decade working in both countries in various roles on the global legal and outsourcing teams of one of the world’s largest financial institutions with more than $3 trillion in assets, including serving as the Head of IT Legal for Customer Platforms & Digital. In that capacity, Amir was the global lead lawyer for digital commercial contracting work associated with multiple retail and commercial business and banking lines.
Amir has obtained the Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) credential in European privacy laws and regulations from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), and is a US-qualified lawyer, licensed to practice law as a member of the State Bar of Illinois and the General Bar of the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Amir has received degrees from Indiana University (B.A.), Ohio Northern University (J.D.), and University of Illinois Chicago School of Law (f/k/a The John Marshall Law School) (LL.M., honors).
Amir is a member of the Society for Computers & Law.
