Cody Haricombe is a seasoned attorney specializing in the intersection of law, technology, and intellectual property. Cody focuses on bridging the gap between legal expertise and technological innovation, specifically through the drafting and negotiation of complex technology and service agreements.

Prior to joining Bortstein Legal Group, Cody spent several years as in-house senior legal counsel at the Takealot Group, where he spearheaded the Group’s intellectual property portfolios and tech-product development initiatives, including the deployment of advanced anti-counterfeiting solutions and enhanced contract lifecycle management systems. His work in legal innovation contributed to his team’s recognition as winners of the African Legal Awards (2023) and the African Legal Innovation & Tech Awards (2025). Cody began his law career at Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs Inc., where he provided end-to-end contractual support for domestic and cross-border transactions across diverse industries, including finance, petroleum, and nature conservation. He also previously served as an attorney at Lighthouse Law and SWART Attorneys, respectively, where he focused on corporate commercial transactions, technology outsourcing, and project management.

Cody is admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa. In his personal time, Cody is active in his local Cape Town community and enjoys soccer, rugby, and escape rooms.
