Jemille Gibson

Jemille Gibson is an experienced lawyer advising on a variety of privacy matters and commercial contracts.

Jemille acts on a variety of commercial matters as a subject matter specialist on data protection and privacy issues, and works with clients on a daily basis to address regulatory requirements under GDPR and analogous data protection regimes in a pragmatic and efficient manner. Jemille is known for his measured interaction style with both clients and counterparties and takes pride in delving into the nature of the data flows and taking a risk-based approach.

Jemille also advises and works with clients on regulatory matters such as privacy notices and cookie policies; cross-border data transfers in and out of the EEA and the United Kingdom; records of processing; and the handling of subject access requests. He also enjoys regularly delivering training on data protection issues which is well received by clients and colleagues.

Prior to joining Bortstein Legal Group, Jemille completed his training contract at a UK technology focused law firm. Jemille earned his law degree from Kingston University in London, with an exchange year at Lund University in Sweden and Hanze Groningen University in the Netherlands. He completed his Legal Practice Course at BPP, earning a Distinction.

Jemille is passionate about languages and speaks competent Hindi, having studied the language independently during university, as well as basic Spanish.

Jemille is a member of the Employment Law Association and the Society for Computers and Law.
